The effects of Global Warming is getting much stronger these days. We should concentrate more on alternative energy to reduce carbon emissions.

Are you that dumb? AGW will not cause humans to be extinct. Only things from space, WMD, and maybe a super volcano can do that. Really, the only people who may be negatively affected are some islands, and the poor and non-technological countries and people, which hopefully will not still be around in several decades. Did you notice that 1 ft of sea level rise, during the 20th century? Didn't think so. Did humans live better in the previous centuries, than we do today? Of course not.

Anyway it is IMPOSSIBLE to prevent any future climate change, even if we could stop all pollution tomorrow. Sign all the treaties you want to, and cut as much greenhouse gases as is physically possible, but that will have no affect whatsoever on the emissions already out there or will be emitted for the next 3-5 decades, until real zero emission technology becomes available and affordable. There may be some radical geoengineering in the future, but not anytime soon.

Solar power will be able to cheaply and efficiently power the entire planet by 2020, so that takes care of that problem of power generation. Vertical farming and desalination, takes care of crops, since they are grown indoors. Personal molecular fabrication devices will be ready by 2030, and that solves, well everything. Cars will be zero emission ready by 2012, but will take at least 20 years to be adopted by the masses, since it take 16 years for the US to turnover its fleet. If near the ocean, build taller sea walls, IPCC predicts 3 ft sea rise by 2100. At that time, humans, if we still are human and not cyborgs, will be trillions of times more advanced, so the impact at that time is not knowable. Most likely will be able to control the weather at will. And on and on and on. Education, not hysteria and depression, will help this planet more.
